New life after the fires: Hike with info on wildfire protection and wilderness development

Thursday, 17. August 2023 5 pm

Jüterbog Wilderness Area

The forest fires of recent years have changed the landscape around Felgentreu. From the ashes, a new forest is emerging that is better adapted to heat and drought. This development is being studied in the PYROPHOB research project and is providing important insights into the forest of the future. Dr. Jens Schröder from the State Forestry Research Centre Eberswalde (LFE) presents interim results of the research project. Foundation managing director Dr. Andreas Meißner shows the forest fire protection system of the Brandenburg Wilderness Foundation and gives an insight into the development of the Felgentreuer meadows.

Meeting: 5 pm, in front of Konsolkes Pension, Zinnaer Str. 18, 14947 Nuthe-Urstromtal OT Felgentreu, duration approx. 3 hours.

Leaders: Dr. Andreas Meißner, Brandenburg Wilderness Foundation and Dr. Jens Schröder, State Forestry Research Centre Eberswalde (LFE)

Note: The free hike is aimed at all interested parties from the region, a registration is requested for better planning to info@stiftung-nlb.de, but participation is also possible without registration. A liability waiver must be signed prior to participation.
