The Senckenberg German Entomological Institute (SDEI) in Müncheberg is one of seven institutes of the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research. The SDEI is a research institute with a tradition of more than 130 years of insect research. It is especially known for its important and extensive insect collection and the outstanding entomological library. In addition to systematics and taxonomy, research in the fields of ecology and biogeography are important areas of research at SDEI. In the PYROPHOB project, the SDEI is dedicated to the study of moth fauna on the experimental plots in order to find out how different processes after forest fires affect this group of insects.
